The Birthday Call — Doğum Günü Araması

Today is Kaan's birthday. He is twenty-five years old. Kaan lives in Toronto, in Canada. His family lives in Ankara.

In the morning, Kaan checks his phone. There are no messages. "Maybe they forgot," he thinks. At work, his friends are very busy. Nobody says "Happy birthday." Kaan is a little sad.

In the evening, he goes home. It is cold and dark outside. He makes a cup of tea. Then his phone rings. It is a video call from his mum. "Happy birthday, my son!" she says. "Thank you, Mum. I miss you."

"Open the door, Kaan," she says. Kaan doesn't understand her. He goes to the door and opens it. His mum is there with a big cake! Behind her, there are his friends from work. "Surprise!" they all shout.

Kaan is not sad now.
